Karen Haselmann and Willis Bowman,
Human Hamster Wheel

The Human Hamster Wheel explores our ability to set in motion the changes we want to see in the world. As participants walk in the wheel, they power a rope that rotates rings beneath an illuminated world. Throughout the night people will be able to add their own drawings and ideas to the rotating rings.

The Cabaret 360 Caravan will host an acoustic music stage for the Human Hamster Wheel

Karen Haselmann is an artist and visual storyteller who believes good art should be nimble and roadworthy. She creates mobile art as a tool to engage and strengthen community. She’s the originator of the Jetpack Shadow Puppet Theater and works at the U of M as a Media Specialist.

Willis Bowman is a self-employed mechanical engineer who spends his waking hours designing products for the medical industry. He has a passion for building things that will excite the viewer, so it became natural to construct toys, large bicycle puppets, and exhibits for museums in his spare time. To combine his engineering and an interest in interactive art he is now making large, hand-powered and computer controlled kinetic sculptures. He has a well-rounded interest and capabilities in woodworking, welding and machine shop tools.
