Weaving from waste on a loom.
Textile Center and Weavers Guild of MN present Lawn-a-Loom: Weaving out of Waste. This project will span a space of Coffman Lawn, using a portable loom utilizing textile and other waste with as weaving material.
It’s easy for anyone–all ages and artistic ability–to participate, bring your own materials and learn to weave!
We’ll weave with discarded textiles and yarn. Participants are invited to contribute surplus material of their choice to the collaborative textile. Our weaving could include: old clothing, computer cables, plastic bags, raw wool, blankets, belts, flags, and more. Dive in and create art out of waste!
You’ll be able to put your whole body into the process – it’s a collaborative experience!
The finished weaving will be displayed at Textile Center, a national center for fiber art.
